Exploring the beauty of Australia is one of my two true passions the other being photography. This vast country offers a rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and customs. For those planning a honeymoon, here are my top recommendations for destinations that promise romance, adventure, and relaxation.

1. Far North Queensland: A Road Trip to Romance

A road trip along the east coast's top end is a quintessentially romantic experience. With a wide range of accommodations, from Airbnbs to caravan parks to luxurious hotels, you're spoilt for choice. Mission Beach deserves a special mention for its stunning palm tree-lined beaches, funky shops, and magical rainforests. Explore nearby Cairns, the charming Kuranda, Babinda Boulders, and Josephine Falls. The drive from Cairns to Port Dougles is among Australia's most scenic. This honeymoon destination is a perfect blend of adventure, romance, and relaxation.

2. Sydney: A City of Romance

Sydney, Australia's iconic city, offers a blend of urban charm and natural beauty. Take a romantic stroll along Sydney Harbour, enjoy a sunset cruise, or dine in award-winning restaurants overlooking the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. For a unique experience, climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge for breathtaking views. Don't miss the stunning Grounds of Alexandria for a fancy cocktail and delicious meal. Venture to Helensburgh to discover a tunnel filled with beautiful glow worms, and drive along the scenic Sea Cliff Bridge. Sydney's efficient public transport, including ferries, makes it easy to explore attractions like the Blue Mountains and Bondi Beach.

3. Uluru: Spiritual Heart of Australia

Uluru, in the Northern Territory, is a must-visit for couples seeking adventure and spirituality. This sacred sandstone monolith offers spectacular views, especially at sunrise and sunset. Dine under the stars with Sounds of Silence or explore ancient rock art around its base. You can hire a Segway, walk, or ride a bike around Uluru. Don't miss Kings Canyon nearby; the gorge walk is best in the morning as afternoons can get very hot.

4. The Great Ocean Road: A Scenic Escape

The Great Ocean Road in Victoria is perfect for couples who love road trips. This route features stunning ocean views, rainforest walks, and the famous Twelve Apostles rock formations. The ever-changing landscape, from ocean vistas to rolling hills and rainforests, is breathtaking. Enjoy some of the best fish and chips along this route.

5. Tasmania: Wilderness and Wine

Tasmania is a personal favorite of mine (though I might be biased because my best friend Joss Jenson is a photographer there). If traveling on the Spirit of Tasmania, opt for a night sailing with a double bed cabin. Tasmania greets you with rich history, the freshest air, creative arts, wilderness walks, and stunning water views. Notable places to visit include the Bay of Fires, Cradle Mountain, Cockle Creek, Mount Field National Park, Franklin, Strahan, and Stanley.
